w.bloggar – a simple and free desktop blog publisher for Windows

November 10th, 2005 at 11:36pm | 6 Comments

w.bloggarI’ve finally grown too frustrated writting blog posts within WordPress. As with most browser-based editing, there is just a huge lack of editing features. With w.bloggar you get syntax highlighting, instant preview, find and replace, spell checking, and my favorite, file and image uploads. You can post to many blogging platforms including Blogger.com and WordPress. Unfortunately, it is only currently available for Windows.

Although w.bloggar is pretty good, I’m still not 100% sold. I think there is probably still something better out there. If you know of any, write a comment about it.

WP Migrate DB Pro - Get 20% Off!

Way back in 2009, I released a free plugin called WP Migrate DB which became pretty popular in recent years. So, I decided to develop a Pro version of this plugin which eliminates the manual work of migrating a WP database. It allows you to copy your db from one WP install to another with a single-click in your dashboard. Especially handy for syncing a local development database with a live site. Learn more »

Hi Brad. Found your site while looking for comment preview plugin, have a question about it – also, do you still use w.bloggar? If not, what are you using now? Am looking for something that will give me more control when I post.

As for live-comment-preview. I looked at your code on your site, and the code within the plugin itself. I’m having a problem.

The name is not changing from Anonymous until after comment is submitted – so what did you do differently that I’m not seeing? :-)

I’ve deactivated the plugin for now, while I search for answers. Any help on both live-comment and w.bloggar (or other software) would be great and much appreciated.

LOVE that your code is valid – am still trying to get my site valid (but trying to fix code that I haven’t written, it is taking a long time to find all the problems).

Thanks in advance for any help!

@Christine Actually, I don’t use w.bloggar anymore. WordPress has come a long way for writing posts. I use the WYSIWYG edit in WordPress. I’m not sure why LCP isn’t working for you, you’ll have to enable it and let me check it out.

    Thanks for the reply Brad!

I think I will check out an old program that I used to use when I used MT years ago called Zempt. Supposedly there is update from someone other than original programmers, we’ll see.

As for LCP – it works, for most part. I have activated it again. The part I am having problem with (or should I say, cannot figure out how you got it to work), is the comment author name, showing up as soon as the comment author types it. Mine stays as Anonymous until the comment is submitted, but you have tweaked it so that as soon as it is typed within the text box, it shows up in the preview.

How?? Please – I love that part of it, it makes it more personable.

    Thanks in advance! :)
