I'm currently in the "Work at Home" phase myself as I just started the self-employment venture about a month ago. I can certainly relate to missing things like, the bike rides to-and-from work and the socializing aspect of my job. IM helps a bit, but isn't quite the same... especially when your comrades have 'real' meetings with real people, and aren't always around to bounce ideas off of. I always found it funny that you'd end up IM'ing the coworker sitting next to you more often than while working in two different 'offices'. Did you ever consider doing contract work on the side?
