Man, it’s been a great summer for rockin’ new album releases. First Tool kicks ass with their first album in five years, the Red Hot Chili Peppers release an incredible double disc album, and the ozzies known as Wolfmother put out an incredible second album. I had never really listened to a full album from any of these bands before (just their singles) and I must have been missing out big time because these albums are fuckin’ awesome.
Lately I’ve been listening to a ton of Bloc Party too. Check out their My Space page to take a quick listen to “Banquet.” It’s an awesome tune!
I was kind of disappointed with Pearl Jam’s new album. I was hoping for a return to their sound from Ten but it’s much more pop-rock than anything. I’ve also gotten my hands on new albums from Sam Roberts, The Raconteurs, and Billy Talent. The new Billy Talent album is sounding pretty sweet. Just listen to Devil In A Midnight Mass and you’ll notice they are back to the punk/rock with a pinch of metal blend that they pull off so damn well. I’m still trying to wiggle into Sam Roberts and The Raconteurs, but it’s still early in the game and I’m optimistic.
