“Professional” Work Experience
June 21st, 2008 at 1:06am | 3 CommentsWhen I was out looking for a job last December, I met with quite a few recruiting firms here in town. I was rather surprised that none of them were interested in anything I did prior to obtaining my Computer Science degree. They were only interested in hearing about jobs that I had after graduating ... read more »

Redesigning zenutech.com
April 8th, 2008 at 11:12am | No CommentsLast week I launched the newest incarnation of zenutech.com. The last redesign was three years ago, used table layouts, a lot of image files, and as a result was really sluggish. It’s definitely not good when your site takes almost ten seconds to load and you’re marketing speedy web hosting. A fresh new design with ... read more »

Firefox 3: Smoother, quicker, better
March 31st, 2008 at 12:35pm | 1 CommentSince the Firefox 3 Beta 1 release in November, I have been following the release notes of each subsequent beta release but have been reluctant to install it for a couple of reasons: Installing Firefox 3 Beta overwrites your Firefox 2 install so you can’t have both versions on the same machine Firebug (my favorite ... read more »

ValidatorDebuggerMarch 3rd, 2008 at 1:28pm | 3 CommentsIn Jeff Croft’s latest article, he rants a bit about how some people (i.e. “assholes”) point out errors in another developer’s markup, publicly humiliating them. It was great to see some familiar faces and I’m looking forward to catching up. The swag bag this year actually contained a couple of really cool ... read more »

Attending Web Directions North 2008
January 28th, 2008 at 9:08pm | No CommentsI doubted I was going to make it to Web Directions North this year, but as I just wrote, things have changed for me in the past few months. My new employer has been generous enough to send me to the conference and I couldn’t be happier to be returning for a second year. I’m ... read more »

Working from home, not for me
January 28th, 2008 at 8:42pm | 1 CommentIn July last year, I started working full-time for my company, Zenutech Inc. I knew working from home would be a bit of an adjustment, but I couldn’t have predicted the challenges. At first it was great. Get up around 9am, shower, eat, and install myself at my desk for the day. Then after a ... read more »

WordPress 2.5 “Zeldman” Coming Soon
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:42am | 2 CommentsOriginal illustration by Sergio Villarreal. There’s been quite a bit of buzz about the redesign of the WordPress Admin for the 2.5 release due in March, that I can only assume will be code named “Zeldman”. Although the small improvements with each release have helped, the WordPress Admin has needed some attention for a while ... read more »
