Story: A bidder end to my luck at the auction
October 24th, 2005 at 3:51pm | 2 CommentsI figured that it is about time that I share this story of my misfortune with the world. Most of my friends get a real kick out of it. I needed a new TV and Able Auctions happened to be having an Office Furniture auction coming up with some TVs in it. I figured since ... read more »

Joining ActiveState in a couple of weeks
October 17th, 2005 at 3:58pm | 4 CommentsIt has been just over a month since I gladly accepted a permanent status offer from Best Buy Canada / Future Shop. Although, as mentioned previously, I didn’t feel I was being challenged and the position certainly wasn’t helping me grow as a professional. Late last week, I accepted an offer from ActiveState, a company ... read more »

“Permanent” Photoshop Jockey
September 12th, 2005 at 2:47pm | No CommentsLast week I accepted an offer for “Permanent” status at Best Buy Canada / Future Shop. Having a steady income and benefits is definitely a plus, although I can’t really see myself as a web designer in 2 years. I am learning quite a bit about marketing and design, but it’s definitely not too challenging ... read more »

Your ear deserves some Arcade Fire
September 1st, 2005 at 9:17pm | No CommentsOf all the new music that I’ve discovered this summer (Alexis on fire, Audioslave, The Killers, etc), I am most excited about The Arcade Fire. This band out of Montreal is ripping it up since they released their album Funeral last September. The only unfortunate thing is that it took a whole year to reach ... read more »

August 30th, 2005 at 11:33am | 2 CommentsFor about three weeks I have been practicing with a newly formed coed ultimate club here in Vancouver, “Bad Spirit”. This past weekend we went to our first tournament in Kamloops, BC. My expectations on Saturday were far exceeded as we played very well, only lost 1 of 4 games and only by a single ... read more »

Writing IE-only CSS in a stylesheet for all browsers
July 30th, 2005 at 8:29pm | 1 CommentUpdate (2009-03-26): I now recommend using conditional comments rather than cluttering your stylesheet with these hacks. Check out my newer article “Preventing IE6 bugs” for more details. Since IE was not originally developed according to standards, it has been a losing battle for Microsoft to bring it up to code. These discrepancies are a constant ... read more »

Do you roll like this?
July 16th, 2005 at 8:29pm | 3 CommentsI attended a police auction today, trying to pick up a really good used (stolen, recovered and unclaimed) bike for cheap. Unfortunately, I got there late and didn’t get a good look at any of the merchandice, so it was just my best guess whether the bike was any good. I bid on a silver ... read more »
